May 11 - June 16, 2007
Sister is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Mary Weatherford. This is Weatherford’s second solo show at Sister.
The exhibition opens Friday night, May 11th from 6PM until 9PM and will run through June 16th.
For this exhibition, Weatherford will present paintings of a sea cave on the central coast.
Weatherford's subjects over the last few years have been a thicket of weeds, a cliff and outcropping of rocks, a cave, and a tangle of vines. Using the drawings as reference, she has created paintings of great formal and spatial complexity that break into kaleidoscopic shards of color. Each painting is a further attempt to represent the seen and the unseen in a metaphoric and literal sense.
There will be an essay available by The Rev. William Weatherford at the gallery.
